Liepāja based team “UPB Energy” Liepāja had great results throughout the day, beating their main competitors from “Mēmeles Sports” Bauska and winning the team competition.

In junior categories, the top spots were won by Liepāja native Renārs Eglītis (JT250) and Laura Lakoviča-Lakovica (GT15) from Bauska. Liepāja team members were also victorious in other categories – Jānis Sējāns (S550), Mārtiņš Bergholcs (FN2), Salvis Štrauss (F350), Dmitrijs Anikejevs (T550), and Jevgēnijs Anikejevs (FR100) were on the top spot on the podium. Reinis Musts won GT30 category, while Normunds Sniķers from NordOst Alūksne was the fastest in RN2000. Runner-up in the world championship, Ņikita Lijcs (Jūrmala), won the Formula 4 category, but Viesturs Lācis from “Mēmeles sports” Bauska was the best among OSY400 category competitors.

“W4racing” powerboat driver Mārtiņš Bergholds shared his view of the event: “The event was fantastic, and none of us expected October 7 to have such great weather – we got really lucky! Everyone got through the event without accidents and were cautious when racing. I am happy with our strategy and the great performance of the young drivers, we are filled with good emotions. The season has concluded on a great note, and today we will head out to the rally stages to follow the action there, as we enjoy all types of racing.”

At the end of the event, speed festival sponsor “Lauma Fabrics” gave Salvis Štrauss a special prize for winning his category – a weekend in Liepāja with his family, where he will be able to enjoy the culture of the city, and visit the “Lauma Fabrics” factory, which is one of the ten largest buildings on the planet.
