As part of Speed Festival KAigars Tīdmanis wins LADA RX Kurzemeurzeme and Rally Liepāja, Saturday’s activities also included Latvian rally stars battling in LADA RX cars. In a very close battle, Aigars Tīdmanis beat Dans Lešcs by just 0.07 seconds.
This year, the competitor list consisted of rally drivers Renārs Francis, Dans Lešcs, Aigars Tīdmanis, and Mārtiņš Būčiņš, karting driver Andris Valters, actor Viktors Ellers, and LADA RX organizer Jānis Bergs.
Aigars Tīdmanis, sharing his experience after the race, notes: “the track was not very difficult, but there were a few dangerous spots where I would normally be a bit more cautious. In the final, I felt that it was necessary to push as hard as I can, and it paid off. I am thrilled with the result, and, after feeling like this was a possible outcome throughout the day, it is great to prove myself right.”
Dans Lešcs was second, less than one tenth of a second behind Tīdmanis, while Mārtiņš Būčiņš finished third. Meanwhile, karting driver Andris Valters showed lightning quick reaction times at the start, crossing the start line just 0.01 and 0.06 seconds after the signal. “Considering that the car is placed 40 centimetres before the start line, the ability to cross it this precisely is simply amazing,” adds Speed Festival Kurzeme project manager Uldis Hmieļevskis.
